Grubhub Launches Robot Delivery at the University of Arizona

Popular dining choices from the Student Union Memorial Center will be available for delivery via Yandex rovers

More than 35,000 Wildcats will be able to order their favorite foods from on-campus dining locations – including IQ Fresh, Einstein Bros Bagels, On Deck Deli and Sabor – via the Grubhub app and have it delivered by one of the rovers. Yandex’s third-generation robots autonomously navigate pavements, campus crosswalks and pedestrian areas at speeds between 3 to 5 miles per hour during daytime and after dark and in various weather conditions, including rain, wind and heat. That’s why today we’re excited to continue serving this vital set of restaurants through Supplemental Delivery, which expands a self-delivery restaurant’s existing delivery boundaries on the Grubhub Marketplace to allow them to reach more diners with the help of Grubhub’s fleet of more than 100,000 drivers.

We’ve heard from many of our restaurant partners that hiring is more difficult now than ever before. With these labor challenges top of mind, we developed Supplemental Delivery to help restaurants reach more diners through Grubhub without adding extra strain to their existing drivers. Orders placed by diners on Grubhub within the restaurant’s existing delivery boundary continue to be delivered by the restaurant’s driver. Orders placed by diners on Grubhub within the newly expanded boundary are sent to a restaurant’s Grubhub tablet just like their other Grubhub orders, but they are clearly marked as being for pickup and delivery by a Grubhub driver. Grubhub And Restaurant Strong Fund to Give $4 Million to Restaurants

Independent restaurants in seven cities are eligible for grants ranging from $5,000 – $50,000

CHICAGO and BOSTON, Oct. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Grubhub, a leading global online food delivery marketplace, and The Greg Hill Foundation’s Restaurant Strong Fund, announced they will be giving $4 million in grants to support restaurants across the country that have been working hard to survive the pandemic. Ranging from $5,000 to $50,000, the grants are part of the Restaurant Strong Fund’s All Day campaign and will help restaurant owners fund indoor and outdoor dining improvements, equipment and technology maintenance and upgrades, marketing and promotion efforts, staff hiring and training, Covid-19 compliance, and infrastructure improvements. This is the third restaurant support program Grubhub and The Greg Hill Foundation have partnered together for in the last year.

 

Restaurants in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, Baltimore and Portland are encouraged to apply for the grants, which will be funded by donations from Grubhub’s Donate the Change program earlier this year. Through the program, Grubhub and Seamless diners who are opted-in can round up their order total and donate the difference, with the company matching eligible donations from Grubhub+ members. Beginning on October 16, donations from the program will again support the Restaurant Strong Fund through the remainder of 2021.

FedExField becomes the first professional sports property to offer in-stadium mobile ordering and pickup via Grubhub, allowing fans to skip the line and save time

This new partnership marks the first time a professional sports property has partnered with Grubhub and will enhance and expedite the ordering experience and payment process for in-stadium dining at FedExField.

As part of this partnership, Grubhub has created a custom ordering experience specifically for FedExField that fans can easily access through the Grubhub app or by scanning QR codes on the back of seats and around the stadium. National LGBT Chamber of Commerce Teams Up with Grubhub To Offer String-Free Funds for Struggling Restaurants Impacted by Covid

WASHINGTON and CHICAGO, Sept. 22, 2021 — America’s vulnerable LGBTQ+-owned restaurants and bars serving food will find a vital lifeline this fall stemming from the partnership formed by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and Grubhub. These small business owners have been among the hardest hit by Covid impact with loss of jobs and income over the past two years.

Grubhub, a leading U.S. food-ordering and delivery marketplace, and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBTQ+ community and certifying body for LGBTQ+-owned businesses nationwide, have opened applications for their NGLCC/Grubhub Community Impact Grant Program. The grants are expected to range from $5,000 to $100,000.

“We often say at NGLCC that ‘If you can buy it, an LGBTQ+-owned business can supply it.’ That is especially true of the LGBTQ+-owned restaurants across America who kept our communities and first responders fed throughout the pandemic. Grubhub and Yandex SDG Launch Robot Delivery Technology at The Ohio State University

The Big 10 school is the first campus to deploy Grubhub delivery via Yandex robots as students return for the fall semester

CHICAGO, Aug. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Grubhub, the leading online and mobile food-ordering and delivery platform on college campuses, and Yandex Self-Driving Group (SDG), a leading autonomous vehicles developer inside Yandex, one of Europe’s largest internet companies, will roll out delivery via Yandex’s robots at its first college campus — The Ohio State University (OSU).

More than 60,000 hungry Buckeyes will be able to order their favorite foods from on-campus dining locations via the Grubhub app and have them delivered by one of 50 Yandex robots operating at the OSU campus in a fast and cost-effective way. The rovers operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Students can request robots to deliver food to every residence hall on campus as well as Thompson Library and Bricker Hall.

Yandex robots autonomously navigate pavements, campus crosswalks and pedestrian areas, which are notoriously challenging to reach by car. They move around a large university campus swiftly at 3 to 5 miles per hour during daytime and after dark and in various weather conditions, including rain and snow. The robots are spacious enough to fit a couple of coffees and a bagel sandwich, or multiple pizzas to share with friends, all while keeping the food at the right temperature.

Grubhub and Transact Partner to Offer Universities Expanded Off-Campus Meal Spending Programs for Students

Grubhub’s more than 300,000 restaurants nationwide are now included in Transact’s off-campus merchant program, providing students with more ways to use their CampusCash.

Grubhub, a leading food-ordering and delivery marketplace nationwide, and Transact, the leader in innovative payment solutions for a connected campus, announced today a partnership to extend Grubhub’s restaurant network to Transact’s CampusCash program. The partnership enables more student spending off campus, allowing universities to better adapt to hybrid learning environments and increase availability for contactless meal delivery and payment options.

Transact’s CampusCash program allows the 12 million students that use its mobile-centric campus technology at more than 1,300 universities across the country to use their student ID cards for cashless payments at university-approved off-campus merchants. Grubhub’s robust network of more than 300,000 restaurants is now included in Transact’s off-campus merchant program. This partnership will allow students to use their university-branded CampusCash account while they are away from campus, even visiting family and friends across the country.
